Vintage alarm clock

This is a vintage Danuvia alarm clock, manufactured in Hungary and featuring an Art Deco style. Made of metal, some models include a glow-in-the-dark dial. These clocks were typically produced during the 1930s or 1940s. Danuvia clocks were made by the legendary Hungarian machine factory Danuvia Gépgyár, founded in Budapest in 1920. While the factory was best known for producing weaponry (such as submachine guns and machine guns for the Hungarian army) and motorcycles, it also has a fascinating history in the field of clockmaking. In the lead-up to World War II, the factory acquired advanced precision machinery from Switzerland, originally intended for the production of precision mechanical fuzes. Following the war and under the new Soviet regime, the military production line was converted to manufacture civilian products.
