The German-made ZEUS caliper was used for the precise measurement of objects. External dimensions are measured using the long jaws, while internal dimensions are measured using the short jaws located on the opposite side of the caliper.
The reverse side of the instrument features reference tables for calculating the weight of metal objects based on the measurements obtained, provided the shape of the object (round or square) and the specific gravity of the material are known.
The manufacturer’s logo is stamped on the upper front of the instrument.
