A fish figurine

An Indian fish figurine made of bronze or copper, produced using the traditional "Lost Wax" casting technique. The sculpture is characterized by a tribal design, which includes complex geometric patterns and a rough texture. Items of this type are often used as home decoration items or as scent/incense boxes, where a candle can be placed inside the body of the fish. The technique known as "Dhokra" originated with indigenous tribes in India and has existed for centuries. The most important historical characteristic of Dhokra items is that each item is one of a kind. Because during the production process the artist had to break the clay mold to extract the finished metal sculpture, the same sculpture cannot be recreated exactly the same time, making each such fish a completely unique work of art.
