Made in Bradford, England
A donation from Nurit Ben Dror in memory of her husband, Jonathan (RIP).
The tractor of the Ben Dror family - Jonathan, Nurit, Ayelet, Roy, and Tamar.
In 1975, our family moved from Rishon Lezion to Hadar Am, the home and farm of Jonathan’s parents.
The farm was purchased in the 19th century by Jonathan’s grandfather while he was still in Russia.
At that time, the agricultural land contained an orange grove that was not producing any fruit, prompting us to decide to uproot it. Approximately two years later, in 1977, we planted avocados, which were a lucrative and worthwhile crop at that time. Jonathan had a deep affection for the land and tended to the orchard with great dedication, even though farming was not his primary occupation, as he worked as an engineer for various companies.
We purchased the tractor from the Shoffman family in Kfar Haim, and it served us faithfully from the beginning of the orchard until the last harvest in 1990.
We did the work in the orchard and the harvesting on Saturdays, with the whole family working together, mainly Roy, who brought the containers to the collection point and made extensive use of the tractor.
The tractor was a significant part of our lives for many years and holds nostalgic value for us, so the decision to part with it was not easy.
After being entrusted to the dedicated employees of the museum for repair and preservation, we hope it will be restored to its former glory.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the museum staff for their important work in preserving agricultural heritage.
